Bakers Eddy Pay Tribute to Their Hometown with Nostalgic New Single ‘Manners Street’

Emerging from a period of deep reflection and creative renewal, Aotearoa-born, Naarm-based band Bakers Eddy have unveiled their latest single, 'Manners Street', a heartfelt tribute to their Wellington roots. Released via ADA, the song offers fans a first glimpse into the band’s forthcoming EP, set to arrive later this year.

Frontman Ciarann Babbington, of Ngati Porou and Ngati Tuwharetoa heritage, describes Manners Street as:
“A tribute to OUR Wellington, the one we grew up in, our experiences, our people, and the places.”
The track captures a sense of nostalgia and longing, serving as a sonic bridge between the band’s past and present. After years of relentless touring and life abroad, Bakers Eddy found themselves searching for a sense of belonging, a journey that ultimately inspired the song.
Having spent much of the past year reconnecting as a band, 'Manners Street' became a crucial piece of their artistic evolution.
“We realised a big part of feeling lost was that we had been away for so long, almost forgetting our roots, writing 'Manners Street' felt like a way to reconnect, not only with our memories but also with the part of ourselves that was missing.”
The song is uniquely special to the band, as each member; Ciarann, drummer Jamie Gordon, and twin brothers Ian (bass) and Alex Spagnolo (guitar), shares lyrical connections to its themes and stories.
“It’s the most ‘Bakers Eddy’ song we’ve ever made"
The upcoming EP, self-produced by the band alongside Vincent McIntyre (Fan Girl, Mr Industry, Elizabeth M. Drummond), was mixed by Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Weezer) and mastered by Emily Lazar (Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Sia). Known for their high-energy blend of alt-rock, pop, and garage-punk influences, Bakers Eddy continue to refine their sound while staying true to their signature anthemic melodies.

In addition to their new release, Bakers Eddy will take the stage at SXSW Austin next month, bringing their electric live performance to an international audience. The band’s compelling stage presence and deeply connected fanbase have solidified their reputation as a must watch act.
With 'Manners Street', Bakers Eddy invite listeners to walk the streets of their past and celebrate the moments that shape us all. Stream the new single now and catch them live at SXSW Austin from March 7–15, 2025.
