Blanco Tranco Step Into 'The Imagined Life'

After five years of crafting their sound and building anticipation, Melbourne’s Blanco Tranco have unveiled their debut album, 'The Imagined Life', out via Honeyglider Records.

Blanco Tranco’s debut pulls from an extensive range of influences, from the melancholy of The Smiths and Echo & the Bunnymen, the dreamy soundscapes of DIIV and Cocteau Twins, and the experimental layers of Aphex Twin and Brian Eno. The album even nods to the underground post-punk movements of Russia and Belarus, while finding kinship with modern acts like The National, RVG, Olivia Rodrigo, and Chappell Roan.

At the lyrical core of Blanco Tranco is the front Tiff Brown, who delivers deeply introspective reflections on disillusionment, identity, toxic love, and the elusive idea of a so-called “imagined life".
Written over several years, the songs trace the cyclical nature of heartbreak and healing, confronting the tension between who we hoped to be and who we actually are.
“It’s been a long journey, over three years in the making, this record represents a huge amount of personal and emotional commitment from all of us. It’s a chance to share a very personal part of our lives.”
Blanco Tranco formed in 2020 when McTiernan’s ad for a post-punk project led him to connect with bassist Mark Howell and drummer Sophie Boyden, with Brown’s vocals later completing the lineup. The album was recorded and produced by Calum Newton (Amyl and the Sniffers), who also handled mixing and mastering.

Since their inception, the band has earned recognition from Guitar World, Milky, and the NZ Herald, and found steady radio support on Triple J, 3RRR, PBS, 4ZZZ, and 2SER. Their track 'Lara' landed on Spotify’s 'Surf Rock Sunshine playlist'.

Renowned for their high-energy live shows, Blanco Tranco will celebrate 'The Imagined Life' with a headline launch at Bergy Bandroom on October 3rd, joined by Tin Pot Clay Man and Tile.
