Cardboard Cutouts Groundbreaking Anthem “Ask Around” Ahead of Debut Album "Politics and Footy Tips"

Emerging from Toowoomba’s thriving alt rock scene, Cardboard Cutouts are making serious waves with the release of their latest single, 'Ask Around', a full frontal rock track lifted from their highly anticipated debut album 'Politics and Footy Tips', out June 27.

'Ask Around' has an undertone of a breakup song, but its outpouring of emotional exhaustion brings a heartfelt angst with explosive energy. According to the band, the song captures the messiness of a long drawn separation, not just from a partner, but from the friends, places, and memories of the relationship.
This latest track follows their praised singles “My Best Friend” and “Steer”, both of which showcased the band's talent for weaving vulnerable storytelling with anthem choruses and tight, textured instrumentation.
"It’s messy, raw, heartfelt, and a bit of a belter"
Politics and Footy Tips is a culmination of over five years of conceptual development, finally brought to life under the guidance of producer Harry Verity. The album promises to be a bold and genre defying statement, grappling with themes of anxiety, identity, and self-acceptance through a distinct sonic identity for each track.
“We spent the next 10 months with that legend making what has become Politics and Footy Tips, and we can’t wait to share it.”
Early critical acclaim hints at a standout debut, with AAA Backstage calling the album
“a bold, genre-blending debut that puts Cardboard Cutouts firmly on the map.”

To celebrate the album’s release, Cardboard Cutouts are embarking on their biggest tour yet, playing 12 dates across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, and the ACT, kicking off in Brisbane on June 27.
