Charlotte Meade’s 'Still Life' Painted in Memory and Discovery

Charlotte Meade has crafted something timeless, with her debut single 'Still Life', the Meanjin/Brisbane songwriter weaved a delicate five minute world where memory and self discovery intertwine. The track is tender, luminous, and deeply human, a portrait of love, nostalgia, and growth.

'Still Life' began as a personal ritual of comfort after moving from Townsville to Brisbane. For Meade, it became a way to hold onto home, fragments of her mother’s cooking, the 'Dan in Real Life' soundtrack spinning in the background, endless games of table tennis with her father, and the quiet ache of wishing her brother were closer. These memories, woven together, form the song’s emotional canvas.

Her lyrics trace a path from the innocence of youth to the wisdom born of lived experience: playful lines about sunburn and bolognese dinners unfold into confessions of heartbreak and empathy.

By its close, the song crescendos into a mantra

“you’re on my mind, all of the time”

A raw release that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Recorded live at Swanpond Studios with her band: Lily Wade (bass), Karissa Liu (keys), and Alex Smith (drums). The track carries the immediacy of being in the room with them. Produced by Alistar Richardson and mastered by Liam “Snowy” Halliwell (Snowy Band), the recording captures the unfiltered honesty that Meade wanted listeners to feel.

With 'Still Life'Charlotte Meade offers a gift in the form of an archive of memory, love, and loss that sets the stage for a promising debut album to come.
