Cordiform brings Resilience With New Single “So What!”

Melbourne-based emo pop punk four piece Cordiform are making waves again with the release of their tough new single “So What!”. Infused with raw emotion, punchiness, and an undercurrent of hope, the track marks a powerful return for the band and confirms their status as one of Australia’s rising acts in the alternative scene.

The band’s signature blend of heartfelt vulnerability and full of energy is in force on “So What!”, a track that channels the trials of personal struggle into a bold, defiant statement. Produced by Lonei Heckenberg (Ocean Sleeper, Behind Crimson Eyes), the song moves seamlessly between warm, melodic verses and soaring, gritty choruses, highlighting the vocal dynamic between James Hibble’s ethereal delivery and Liam Nolan’s punchier edge.
‘So What!’ captures the emotional rollercoaster of being knocked down by life, yet finding the inner strength to rise again
It’s a song about perseverance, empowerment, and the choice to keep going in the face of adversity.
The track’s creation was rooted in collaboration. According to Nolan, it stemmed from an early idea by drummer Tim Irwin and evolved over time, especially with Heckenberg’s guidance in crafting a chorus
Big enough to give the energy the song deserved
Accompanying the release is a music video directed by Jaydon Colvin and Heckenberg, which adds a playful twist to Fight Club, reimagined as “Cordi Club.” Filmed in scorching conditions, the shoot showcased the band’s dedication and humorous spirit, proving that even in discomfort, Cordiform are committed to fun and connection.

Cordiform will also hit the road this June, joining Chasing Ghosts and The Comfort on an East Coast tour. Stops include major cities like Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. The band will cap off the season by headlining their own cheekily named festival, '2 Pizza 2 Planet', in Melbourne on August 9.
Having already earned support from Triple J 'Unearthed', Spotify editorial playlists, and tastemakers like The Elder Emoon TikTok, Cordiform continue to cement their place in Australia’s evolving emo and pop punk resurgence. Their debut EP 'Growth & Despair' turned heads in 2023, and with “So What!” they prove they’re only just getting started.
