Harrison Storm Finding Renewal in the 'Empty Garden'

Harrison Storm Finding Renewal in the 'Empty Garden'

With his sophomore album 'Empty Garden', Melbourne’s Harrison Storm steps into bold new territory, expanding the alt-folk roots that earned him nearly 550 million streams worldwide into a lush soundscape of hypnotic pop, ghostly folk, and sweeping rock.

Where his 2023 debut 'Wonder, Won’t You?' introduced him as a rising voice in atmospheric folk-pop, 'Empty Garden' arrives as a more expansive, cinematic statement. Co-created with Stockholm based producer Freddy Alexander.

At its core, 'Empty Garden' is an album about endings and beginnings. Written in the wake of a breakup, the tracks don’t recount heartbreak but they search for meaning in emotional cycles, offering lessons to carry forward.

With the self titled track 'Empty Garden' setting the tone for the album

“I’ve never written a song like Empty Garden before, it’s one of the higher energy tracks I’ve done and is about that moment in a relationship when you know the end is coming, but you’re still pretending everything’s okay. The song is the title track because it sums up both the end of an era and new beginnings.”

Highlights include the stunning duet 'Someone Else' with Swedish singer Winona Oak, echoing the tension of Gotye and Kimbra’s classic 'Somebody That I Used to Know'

“The story is about being cheated on by a partner, told from both perspectives, hence the male/female verses, I recorded it with Winona, but there is also a version with Brittony that may come out in the future.”

The tender 'For Your Love' opens the record with intimacy, while 'Find A Way' bursts with sunshine-soaked optimism.

The rocky 'Bottled Up' Inside dives into generational patterns of masculinity, marking one of Storm’s most vulnerable songwriting moments to date.

From van life reflections ('Under the Sail') to emotionally charged tour encounters ('Temporary Friend'), Harrisonchannels a year of wandering, healing, and discovery into ten tracks that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant.

'Empty Garden' is a space of reckoning and rebirth, a testament to Harrison Storm’s growth as a songwriter, collaborator, and voice for vulnerability.
