Haters Announce Electrifying New Single "Last Night" and Exclusive Vinyl Release of Debut Album "Non-Violent"
Rising indie-punk trio Haters returns to the spotlight, unleashing their high energy single “Last Night” and announcing an exclusive vinyl release of their debut album, "Non-Violent", available for pre-order on November 22. Known for their explosive live performances and brutally honest lyrics, Haters continues to carve their niche in the indie punk and garage rock scene with an anthem like sound, heartfelt lyrics, and a drive for authentic community connection.
“Last Night” reflects on vocalist Jai Sparks’ personal journey, exploring both toxic and transformative experiences.
“The first verse is about a past life, unhealthy relationships, and bad choices. By the second verse, the narrative shifts to a celebration of true connections and the thrill of finding your people.”
With compelling lyrics, the song’s contrasting sections come together in a powerful anthem designed for both head banging and introspection.
Produced in Ontario, Canada, “Last Night” was crafted under the guidance of Scott Middleton, founder of the influential punk band Cancer Bats. Middleton became an early supporter of Haters, and his studio became the band’s creative haven during their intense, round the clock recording sessions.
“We lived in the studio, slept on the floor, and put everything we had into this record.”
The result captures the visceral energy of a Haters’ live show, with bassist Kaito and drummer Jimmy delivering a relentless, driving rhythm that anchors Sparks’ lyrical storytelling.
Haters’ much anticipated debut album "Non-Violent" will see a limited early release on vinyl, available exclusively in select record stores. This fan first approach reflects the band’s commitment to their local supporters, with the vinyl hitting shelves months ahead of the full digital release scheduled for March 2025. Alongside popular singles like “Young Ones”, “Quit My Job”, and “wander//wonder”, "Non-Violent" showcases the band’s exploration of resilience, self-discovery, and hope in the face of hardship.
To celebrate the single and album releases, Haters is set to perform at several launch shows, offering fans a taste of their high-energy performance style and a chance to bring home a piece of their musical journey. These events include both in-store performances and live shows across Queensland and Melbourne, culminating in a special “Last Night” launch at Greaser in Fortitude Valley.

Formed amidst a period of personal and global chaos, Haters found purpose in community, resilience, and honesty. As Sparks explains, the name “Haters” is a nod to facing adversity with an unwavering dedication to positivity, using their platform to promote mental health awareness without romanticising the struggles. Instead, the band’s lyrics emphasise finding peace through community, self-acceptance, and the healing power of music.
The band’s journey from small-town Queensland to international recording sessions reflects their ambition and dedication.
“We just committed to working our butts off. I couldn’t have done what we’ve done in Haters with any other band.”
