LASHES Unveils Cinematic Hyper-pop Anthem with New Single "Avalanche For You"

LASHES is back with another electrifying single, "Avalanche For You," once again teaming up with frequent collaborator Michael Belsar (known for his work with Hayden James and Bob Moses). The song is a hyperpop, cinematic masterpiece that began its journey in 2022 under the working title "Final Fantasy". Originally, LASHES envisioned a SCI-FI RPG (Role Playing Game) setting where you must cooperate to survive, only to face betrayal, a storyline that later revealed itself to be somewhat prophetic.

After reworking the song’s lyrics and production in 2024, "Avalanche For You" evolved into an exploration of addiction to toxic cycles and the emotional toll they can take.

“Sonically, we wanted it to emulate ‘fight or flight,’ the anxiety of walking on eggshells, and the confusion you feel when living in a skewed version of reality.”

Produced and mixed by Belsar and mastered by Cam Trewin (Rüfüs Du Sol), the track also features additional vocal production by Jackson McRae (Holy Holy / George Alice).

"Avalanche For You" marks LASHES' second release of the year, following her February single "Hollow". The latter track gained significant attention, including a remix for Triple J’s "On Ya Bike" live stream and a feature on ABC News Breakfast. It has also received airplay on SYN, Triple J, and Unearthed. In the months following its release, LASHES performed at the Ballarat leg of the Homegrown Festival, sharing the stage with Slowly Slowly, The Getaway Plan, and Kisschasy, and graced Ballarat’s White Night event.

LASHES’ growing discography has continued to attract attention since 2023. Her singles "Call Me When You Land" and "Make Your Move" both earned airplay on Triple J’s "Home & Hosed" program, with "Make Your Move" getting added to Unearthed radio. These tracks also received glowing reviews from outlets like Fashion Journal, Happy Mag, Forte Magazine, and AAA Backstage. LASHES’ rise has been nothing short of meteoric over the last eighteen months, playing sold-out shows in Melbourne and Ballarat, and performing at Spilt Milk and Groovin The Moo festival.

LASHES journey in music began at the age of seven, sparked by a restlessness toward traditional music theory, which led to a lifelong passion for musical experimentation. The Ballarat raised, Melbourne based artist has since built a reputation for heartfelt songwriting, infectious melodies, and a commitment to collaboration with local producers.
