Milly Strange Unveils Deeply Personal Debut Album

Melbourne based singer songwriter Milly Strange recently released her highly anticipated self titled debut album, marking a bold new chapter in her artistic journey. Known for her raw lyricism, Milly delivers an emotional landscape that’s delicate and unflinching, a memoir of grief, healing, and growth.

Following previous releases of impactful singles, the album builds on the emotional depth. One of the standout tracks, 'The Last Time', is a fan favourite that dives into the lingering sorrow of broken relationships and losing yourself.

“Writing these songs felt psychologically and emotionally necessary, each one helped me give form to a part of myself I wasn’t ready to confront in real life"

With a stripped back production, the song sets the precedent for an album drowned in vulnerability and reflection.

Raised on a wide spectrum of music, from Johnny Cash to PJ HarveyMilly’s sound is a unique blend of old soul and modern edge. While her influences subtly echo throughout the record, she has made a distinct identity rooted in lyrical honesty and emotional nuance.

Recorded in Melbourne with her full band, the eight track album features titles like 'Ghost', 'Horses', and 'Cold'. Each song acts as a confession, capturing the slow, often painful process of discovery.

“I feel like I can finally move forward from a lot of the trauma these songs helped me work through. As a band, we’re so excited to share what our next step will look like, with this first album as the foundation for everything that’s to come.”

The result is a deeply personal body of work, through vivid storytelling and rich emotional layers, Milly Strange offers a portrait of transformation.

Having already carved out a place in Melbourne’s underground, Milly has performed alongside artists like The SlingersPeter BibbyCaitlin Harnett & the Pony Boys, and Queenie. She has sold out shows of her own and will perform at Town Folk Festival this November alongside Sharon Van Etten, and will support Folk Bitch Trio at The Corner Hotel on September 13th and 14th. On September 18th, Milly will headline a special album launch show at Northcote Social Club in Melbourne.
