MR. INDUSTRY Embrace Chaos and Control on Debut EP 'Dancing To My Own Internal Rhythm'

Melbourne’s Mr. Industry step boldly into the spotlight with their debut EP, 'Dancing To My Own Internal Rhythm', a six track, nearly 40-minute plunge into experimental post punk and noise rock that’s as confident as it is chaotic.

Described by Triple J’s Lauren Guerrera as

“angular, jagged post-hardcore filled with experimentation that is SO sure of itself”

Fresh from shows alongside Radio Free AliceSonic Reducer, and TwineMr. Industry channel the visceral energy of their live sets directly into the record.

From the opening moments of lead single “Birdie”, listeners are dragged willingly into the band’s whirlwind world.

Inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), vocalist Sebastian crafts lyrics around the spiraling madness of Tom Waits’ character, Renfield

“I wrote the lyrics about my favourite movie… the song is about becoming a more hateful person”
The result is a descent that’s magnetic, the vocals stretch and claw, and a never releasing tension encapsulates the track.

Across the EP, Mr. Industry strikes a delicate balance between aggression and vulnerability.

"Cookies" slowburns its way through the creeping dread of generation repetition and 'becoming your own parents'. "Grow Kit" takes on the discomfort of growing pains, both in personal and social applications, with the same undertone that "Cookies" provided on the track.

Produced by Vincent McIntyre (Fan GirlElizabeth M. Drummond) with additional touches from bassist Caleb Skewes, the EP sounds simultaneously raw and meticulously crafted.

The meaty section of the EP hosts tracks "Bagpipes" and "Greenroom Sleeper", both depictions of the bands direction when it comes to solid punk anthems.

The closing track, and the EP’s namesake, “Dancing To My Own Internal Rhythm” is its emotional center point. Clocking in at eight minutes, it’s a sprawling, woozy meditation on autonomy and identity, a warning against dancing to someone else’s tune.

To mark the release, Mr. Industry will headline The Evelyn Hotel in Melbourne on Saturday, August 2nd
