Seb Szabo Unveils New Single 'June' A Bittersweet Ode to Love and Memory

From serenading passersby on Melbourne’s vibrant Bourke Street Mall to selling out headline shows with his electrifying band, Seb Szabo has captivated audiences with his authenticity, humour, and heartfelt performances. Today, the Melbourne based alt-rock storyteller releases his exciting new single ‘June’.

Written on the nature strip outside his home, ‘June’ encapsulates a time of love and joy, tinged with the bittersweet sting of what’s been lost.
“It’s about how a certain time of year will always remind me of loving someone, the simple joys we shared during our first meeting, like Bailey’s in coffee on a picnic rug, and the ways I felt like I let them, and us, down.”
With his trademark emotional depth, Szabo takes listeners on a reflective journey, painting vivid snapshots of a fleeting chapter that lingers in his memory.
The track, recorded in Geelong, boasts an impressive team of collaborators. Produced by Matt McGuffie (IVEY, Tia Gostelow) with additional production by Jackson McRae (Allday, Japanese Wallpaper), ‘June’ was mixed by Paul Frost in the UK and mastered by Leon Zervos at Studio 301, whose credits include King Stingray and The Jungle Giants.
To celebrate the release of ‘June’, Szabo will host an intimate launch show at Melbourne’s Workers Club on Valentine’s Day, Friday 14th February. Known for creating an emotional connection with his audience, the show promises to be a perfect setting to experience the song live.
The release of ‘June’ follows a standout year for Szabo, marked by his sold-out three night residency at The Gasometer Upstairs in November. The final night featured a remarkable duet of his hit song ‘Twice Over’ with Gretta Ray. In addition, Szabo hosted secret house shows, performed alongside artists like San Cisco and Cap Carter, and took the stage at the Queenscliff Music Festival.
Szabo’s May release, ‘Perfect Symmetry’, cemented his place as one of Australia’s most compelling emerging artists, with fans resonating deeply with his raw, introspective songwriting.
Seb Szabo’s ability to weave heartfelt stories into his music has earned him fans both at home and abroad. As part of Sofar’s Artist Residency Program, Szabo has shared his music with audiences worldwide, finding connection through intimate performances.
This year, Szabo promises even more heartfelt songs, unforgettable live shows, and stories that will resonate with anyone who’s ever loved, lost, and dared to dream.
Seb Szabo’s music is inspired by the beauty of life’s fleeting moments. Whether it’s the memory of his Californian grandmother’s piano or the rush of meeting someone new, his songs celebrate the highs and lows of life.
On stage, Szabo creates a space where emotions take center stage, inviting listeners to sing along, feel deeply, and leap into the unknown.
Put on ‘June’, close your eyes, and let Seb Szabo remind you that even when love fades, the memories it leaves behind can still warm your heart.
