Serendipiti latest release 'Distance' is the first chapter of her debut concept EP. This work serves as a musical diary, with each track representing a different stage in a story of long-distance love and loss. Accompanying the release is a music video, which debuts on July 1st as part of her QUBE Effect Finalist presentation, and a launch show in Meanjin (Brisbane) at 'It’s Still a Secret' on July 5th. With intricate time signatures and lush cinematic arrangements, Serendipiti celebrates the romantic, if slightly unrealistic, notion of giving into insatiable hope and embarking on a long-distance relationship.
Serendipiti, the musical persona of Jess Chate, discovered her love for music at age eight when she wrote her first song to soothe her anxiety over a phantom spider bite. This marked the beginning of her journey in creating charming, hand-spun folk-pop music infused with heartfelt emotions. Drawing inspiration from artists like Lizzie McAlpine, Phoebe Go, and Coldplay, Serendipiti's music weaves intimate narratives with alternatively tuned guitars and lush, cinematic crescendos.Since her celebrated debut release in 2023, Serendipiti has played sold-out shows internationally, from Sofar to Woodfordia's Small Halls Festival. She has also placed in the Grand Finals of the 'Listen Up' Songwriting Competition, received critical acclaim from platforms like Livewire and Triple J Unearthed, and enjoyed nationwide radio play on Double J, 4ZZZ, and FBI.
Serendipiti's debut single received rave reviews from industry professionals. Dave Ruby Howe, a producer at Triple J Unearthed, described her music as;

The single is a heartfelt exploration of new love, the conflict of choices, and the liberation found in embracing hope. Beginning with lush harmonies and waltzing strings, the song captures the excitement and fear of budding love across state lines. It evolves with shifting time signatures, building with guitars and brass to a triumphant climax as Serendipiti surrenders to the risks of love, even from afar.The accompanying music video, crafted as a featured finalist project for the QUBE Effect, further enhances the narrative of the song, offering a visual representation of the emotional journey depicted in the music.
