Spacey Jane's 'Do You Really Love Her?' Hitting Minds and Hearts
Spacey Jane's latest single, 'Do You Really Love Her?', arrives as the band’s first release since their 2025 album 'If That Makes Sense', and it feels like an indie rock moment that leans into nostalgia while quietly expanding the band’s signature sound.
Written on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills, the track trades the immediacy fans know for something more atmospheric. The mix on this track gives the song a panoramic, almost neon lit feel. It’s the sound of a band stretching its arms out beyond the familiar contours of indie rock.

In the studio, the band leaned into the lush swagger of ’80s pub rock, referencing icons like INXS, and Icehouse
“‘Do You Really Love Her?’ was born of the 'If That Makes Sense' writing sessions, for some reason the song didn’t feel like the right fit for the album, but we always wanted it to see the light of day”
The track came together with industry heavyweights Sarah Aarons and Joel Little, before being handed to producer John Hill to bring its ambitions to life.
The story at the centre of the song is both surreal and painfully relatable, a dreamlike scenario in which someone is stood up on a date, only to later see the person who ghosted them glowing on a movie screen. It’s a metaphor for the strange distances that modern life can create, how someone can be everywhere and nowhere all at once.
'If That Makes Sense' debuted at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and went on to become the highest selling Australian album of new music in 2025, earning nominations for Best Rock Album and Best Video at the ARIA Awards. The band also finished the year as the most played artist on Triple J.
That momentum was reflected in the Triple J's "Hottest 100" as well, where the band landed five songs in the 2025 countdown, a feat that cemented their status as one of the country’s most beloved modern acts.
They’ve taken that energy around the world. Over the last year, Spacey Jane toured extensively across Australia, North America, the UK and Europe, including a performance at the legendary Austin City Limits Music Festival. Back home, they’ve continued to dominate festival stages with appearances at Beyond The Valley and The Great Escape, among others.
It’s a rare moment of reflection for a band that hasn't slowed down since their 2020 debut 'Sunlight', which produced the breakout single 'Booster Seat', a multi platinum track that won Song of the Year at the ARIAs.
Now, with 'Do You Really Love Her?', the band seems less concerned with chart positions and more interested in exploration, and the next chapter of Spacey Jane might be even bigger than the last.
