The Genevieves Return with Fierce and Vulnerable 'Standing In Your Way'

Following their acclaimed debut EP 'Dog Dreams', Adelaide four piece The Genevieves are back with 'Standing In Your Way', a raw and unfiltered track about loving someone through the slow ache of knowing it’s not working.

Recorded in the thick of a sweltering South Australian summer at a remote farmhouse outside Jamestown, the same site where 'Dog Dreams' came to life just a year prior, the single carries the grit and intimacy of its surroundings.
Embracing isolation and a DIY ethos, the band transformed bedrooms into makeshift studios, cranked amps deep into the night, and punctuated recording sessions with beers, backyard mini golf, and late night sumo wrestling on country TV.
The tambourine, acoustic guitar, and drum machine that colour the final track were added at 5am on the last night of the trip.

At its heart, 'Standing In Your Way' captures the slow and sinking realisation that love isn’t always enough. It lingers in the space between care and disconnection, tracing the heaviness of a relationship stuck in a loop.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, and Osees, The Genevieves channel a fierce yet vulnerable sound that has already earned them a loyal following.
Their debut 'Dog Dreams' received national airplay on Triple J’s 'Perfect Sundays', and heavy rotation on community stations including FBi, Triple R, SYN, 2SER, Radio Adelaide and 4ZZZ, where it held a spot in the Top 20 for three weeks.
Known for their emotionally charged and high energy live shows, The Genevieves have shared the stage with R.M.F.C, Full Flower Moon Band, Dr Sure's Unusual Practise, sleepazoid, and dogworld. This September, they hit the road for a national tour in support of 'Standing In Your Way'.
