The Slingers Return With New Single ‘Payphone Man’

Melbourne's five piece The Slingers are back with their first new single in over a year, revealing their latest single ‘Payphone Man’.

The track marks the first taste of their forthcoming sophomore album 'True Believers', and signals an exciting new chapter for the band.

Written by frontman Robert Mahon while on tour in 2024, ‘Payphone Man’ captures the restless energy of travel and isolation through dusty guitars and a driving rhythm section.

Mahon’s vivid lyricism weaves cultural references from Alan Vega to the DOW Jones into a collage that feels both sharp and strangely intimate.

Accompanying the release is a music video directed by rising filmmaker Archie Chew, shot in London.

The clip traces a journey from paranoia to freedom, mirroring the song’s haunting yet hypnotic tone.

Recorded in Melbourne with producer Ben Irawan‘Payphone Man’ takes The Slingers into fresh territory, stepping away from the motel pop of their acclaimed debut 'Sentimentalism' and the dreamy vulnerability of 2024’s 'Darling'.

The release also launches a run of shows, with The Slingers bringing their celebrated live energy to stages in Castlemaine, Melbourne, and Sydney.
