In the eight years since their formation in Melbourne’s pub rock scene, Amyl and The Sniffers have mastered the art of balancing raw power with playful energy. With two critically acclaimed albums under their belt, 2019’s self-titled debut and 2021’s visceral "Comfort To Me".

Vocalist Amy Taylor, guitarist Declan Mehrtens, bassist Gus Romer, and drummer Bryce Wilson have crafted something truly remarkable. Since "Comfort To Me", the band's horizons have expanded exponentially, and this fearless, attitude is what fuels their third album, "Cartoon Darkness". Produced by Nick Launay at Foo Fighters’ 606 Studios in Los Angeles, the album stretches from classic punk to the glam strut of their latest single, "U Should Not Be Doing That" to the stormy balladry of "Big Dreams" As Amy puts it

"Cartoon Darkness is driving head first into the unknown, into this looming sketch of the future that feels terrible, but doesn’t even exist yet. A childlike darkness. I don’t want to meet the devil halfway and mourn what we have right now. The future is cartoon, the prescription is dark, but it’s novelty. It’s just a joke. It’s fun."

KiNG MALA

the alter ego of El Paso born musician Areli Castro, is an alternative pop artist based in Los Angeles who isn’t afraid to lay it all out. Her music exudes confidence and power, aiming to inspire both herself and her listeners to stand taller and speak louder. With a strong visual identity that embraces masculine tropes, Castro explains

"There's something about taking something traditionally masculine and wearing it as a woman that makes me feel really powerful."

This influence is seen in everything she does, from choosing "KiNG" over "Queen" to the name "MALA," which translates to "bad bitch" in Spanish. Her raw, heart on sleeve approach encourages listeners to embrace life’s messiness, urging them to connect deeply with their true selves.

Her latest single, "cult leader" is dark, provocative, and brimming with bold energy. Despite being written during a period of low confidence, KiNG MALA took a fake it till you make it approach, channeling an exaggerated sense of confidence and narcissism to uplift herself. The track’s distorted beat and haunting vocals resonate with daring power, capturing the spirit of someone unafraid to push boundaries.
