It's Riley Pearce's Turn Now

Perth-based singer-songwriter Riley Pearce has unveiled his highly anticipated second album, 'It's Your Turn Now'. This new release promises to captivate listeners with its heartfelt exploration of the transformative journey into parenthood. 'It's Your Turn Now' sees Riley Pearce reflecting on the sweeping changes and intricate nuances of becoming a new parent. Despite the deeply personal nature of these themes, Riley's songwriting, marked by vulnerability, and honesty, allows listeners to connect their own experiences to his music. Few life events are as transformative as becoming a parent. The overwhelming love and inevitable sleep deprivation are experiences that reshape one's life. Riley has consistently used his music to chronicle life's major moments, and this album marks his examination of the most significant chapter yet.

The project began in 2022, following the birth of his first child, and continued to develop as he welcomed his second daughter at the end of last year.

“Becoming a dad changed everything and made me patient. This album documents my journey through arguably the biggest shift and upheaval of my life and how I processed it all. The highs, the lows, the grand picture, and the minutiae of it all. It’s the most raw and shell-less I’ve been in my songwriting and I wanted to reflect that in the production a lot of the time too. The album was produced and recorded in my backyard shed turned studio and that in itself was a deep-end cannonball as much as the transition to parenthood felt like".

As a solo artist, Riley has often focused on self-promotion and career growth, which doesn't always come naturally to him. However, becoming a father shifted his priorities and changed the reasons behind his efforts.

“As a solo singer-songwriter, there’s a lot of self-focus, and that doesn’t necessarily come naturally to me, but it’s part of having to grow my career, promote my music, tour, etc. In becoming a father, my mind and priorities had to shift focus, and it was a big change in the reason I was doing things, what I was pushing for, who’s the new focus. My wife was starting a business at the same time too, and I wanted to give her the chance to follow something she was passionate about in the same way I was lucky enough to do".
